Seyyed Mehdi Hashemi Toghroljerdi is a board member of Emennet Pasargad (formerly known as Eeleyanet Gostar and Net Peygard Samavat Company), an Iran-based cyber company. He participated in a coordinated campaign attempting to interfere in U.S. elections, particularly the 2020 U.S. presidential election. The campaign, starting in August 2020, included obtaining confidential U.S. voter information, sending threatening emails to intimidate voters, creating and disseminating disinformation videos, attempting unauthorized access to state voting websites, and successfully breaching a U.S. media company's network. Emennet actors falsely claimed affiliation with the Proud Boys group during parts of this campaign. In November 2021, Toghroljerdi was designated by the U.S. Department of the Treasury under Executive Order 13848 for his role in these election interference attempts. The U.S. government is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to his identification or location, or information preventing or resolving acts of foreign election interference.
